Welcome

As a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, I help couples enhance their relationships by re-establishing trust, increasing friendship, improving communication, calming conflict, and creating shared meaning. No matter how troubled a relationship seems, you can turn it around if you know how to create the change that matters. Even in cases of infidelity, couples can heal and begin to turn towards each other again to create a stronger marriage than the one that existed before the affair.  For engaged couples, premarital counseling can mean the difference between getting off to a good start in your life together or becoming mired in conflict.  For soon-to-be or new parents, couples counseling can help keep your relationship strong even though two-thirds of couples experience a significant drop in their marital satisfaction after having their first child.  Research shows that, on average, couples wait six years from the time they recognize that they are having serious problems to the time that they seek help for their relationship.  During this period, problems often worsen, and a lot of damage can be done to the relationship.  Therefore, it is important that couples seek help as early in their relationship as possible if they feel that that their perpetual issues are becoming gridlocked.  However, even long-term couples with long-standing conflicts can find ways to get their relationship back on a positive track if they know how to apply the right tools.

Couples are like snowflakes: no two are exactly alike.  Therefore, I devise a customized treatment plan for each couple based on a brief evaluation period with you.  This is very much an interactive, solution-focused process, incorporating support and practical feedback to help you address current relationship challenges and long-standing conflicts.  With compassion and understanding, I help couples navigate a wide range of personal concerns, relationship problems, and psychological issues. With an integration of complimentary approaches, I draw from a variety of methodologies and techniques, including Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and A Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) to incorporate what is most helpful for each couple based on both empirical evidence and my many years of experience. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each couples' individual needs to help you attain the relationship growth you are striving for. Together with each couple, I work to help you develop individual and relationship strengths to make your life dreams come true.  Gottman Couples Therapy is based on Dr. John Gottman's 30 years of research on what makes marriages succeed or fail. Dr. Gottman has been named one of the Top 10 Most Influential Therapists of the Past Quarter-Century by Psychotherapy Networker Magazine (March/April 2007), and is featured in Malcolm Gladwell's 2005 book Blink. Learn more about Gottman Couples Therapy and view my listing at Gottman.com.
